If you have come this far in your search for a Chinese wife, then you probably agree that Chinese women are wonderful and caring human beings. In a perfect world, you could dive head first in the quest for your oriental princess and never have to worry about any mishaps that might come along the way, but in the real world there are some potential pitfalls that you should be aware of.

Although this is rapidly changing, in China there is still the misconception that all foreigners are financially successful and could eventually provide a better life and a more stable future for their wives. Since Chinese society is all about securing the future, some Chinese women feel inclined to find a marriage partner outside of their culture. Moreover, many Chinese seem to think foreigners are only as rich as the country they come from. In fact, it is common for Chinese women who are interested in foreigners to boast about the country their husbands or boyfriends are from.So if you come from a well-known developed nation, you will be more susceptible to being approached by women whose sole interest is the content of your wallet.

Being mistaken for a bank is definitely one of the main downsides when searching for your Chinese wife; however keeping an open mind and not generalizing is the key here. Most Chinese women were raised to be kind and with more and more girls lining up to enter the universities, they are also becoming much more independent than before. Despite of this, the man´s ability to provide financial security still plays the most important role in Chinese marriages. So even if you are lucky enough to find the sweetest and most independent woman in all of China, your financial status might still be a topic that will eventually come up and play a main role in your relationship. Even if it is not an issue with your future Chinese girl, it might definitely be an issue with her parents. This is a cultural aspect that you will have to keep an open mind about and always respond to with honesty.

All cultures will agree that more important than being financially successful, is being honest and having a good character. When and if the financial topic ever comes up, you should be straight forward and never try to be something you are not. Both your future Chinese wife and your future Chinese in-laws will know how to recognize and value your honesty. You are most certainly not required to be a millionaire in order to find a good Chinese wife, but showing that you are willing to work hard and that you have solid plans for the future will certainly gain you a fair amount of points.

Another important thing you might want to avoid is having multiple Chinese girlfriends. This advice applies specially to expats living in China. Because foreign men seem to attract a lot of attention, all the popularity eventually grows on them and they often find themselves dealing with two or more women at the same time. Due to the fact that Chinese women can sometimes be very jealous human beings, they tend to pick up any traces of infidelity pretty fast and you will have to deal with a whole lot of drama.

Once again, it is very important to avoid trouble by always being honest and avoid playing with other people´s feelings. Remember that most Chinese girls value long term relationships over short meaningless dating. So before you throw your charms at a Chinese girl, make sure you expose your true intentions. If they don´t match with her expectations, then go throw your charms at someone else. This will save you a lot of trouble.

I dont think you can generalize things that way. For example, if you meet someone from smaller villages in China, they will not ask about your finances, since they already know no matter where you take her, she will be better off.
At the same time, if you meet a rich family girl, they wont ask about your finances, in fact they wont ask you anything, since there is a great chance that they will oppose your marriage or relatinship, since they want a Chinese guy to marry their girl.
Again, I think younger women in China are more picky about money and think foreigners have money, while older women in China in most cases will not be interested in you finance, but more into your character.
Younger women in China, just like every 20year old on the planet is full of misconceptions about the world, let alone in China, where most of information they get about the West is through Hollywood movies and local TV. So, more than often, if you want to take out a 20year old Chinese out for a dinner, she will probably suggest Mcdonalds or pizzeria, because that is what foreigners eat every day, or they will be quite surprise tha not all of the foreigners get married in church.
I guess it all comes down to that one about generalizations: Every generalization is wrong, including this one.
You will meet Chinese owmen who are educated and are ready to buy you a dinner, and again you might women who will think you eat burgers every day. But that is the excitment of life. You never know what is waiting around the corner,
